How the instant quote prices your project.
The quote reads your files, counts the words, pages or minutes, and prices them at the rates below. The price you see is fixed, in pounds sterling, with VAT shown.
What we count
Each service is priced by one measure, or two for translation with layout. Each target language is priced on its own line, and one quote can cover several languages.
Words
For translation and transcreation: the words to translate, counted in the source language.
Pages
For layout: every page that needs typesetting, classed by how much layout it carries. Blank pages are not charged.
Minutes
For subtitles and voiceover: the running time of your video or audio, rounded up to the next whole minute. Voiceover is priced per finished minute.

What changes the price
- Larger jobs pay less per word: 5% off from 10,000 words, 10% off from 25,000 words and 15% off from 50,000 words.
- Fast delivery adds 25% to the price, and Express adds 50%.
- Layout from a PDF or an image alone costs 50% more, because the document has to be rebuilt.
- Layout in Chinese, Japanese, Korean or Thai costs 25% more.
- Each target language has a minimum charge of £35.00 for translation, subtitles and voiceover (more for translation in some languages), and no order costs less than £35.00.
How pages are classed for layout
The quote looks at every page and places it in one of four classes, judging columns, tables, images, short blocks of text and graphics. You see the class of each page before you order, and you can leave out any page you do not need.
- Simple
- Mostly running text, with little else on the page. £8.00 a page, or £12.00 from a PDF or an image.
- Standard
- Text with some tables, images or a second column. £8.00 a page, or £12.00 from a PDF or an image.
- Complex
- Several columns, tables, many images or graphics, or many short blocks of text. £15.00 a page, or £22.50 from a PDF or an image.
- Scanned
- No usable text layer, such as a scan or a photo of a page, so the page is rebuilt from the image. £22.50 a page.
- Blank
- Found automatically, and not charged.
If you have the editable file, such as Word, PowerPoint or an IDML export from InDesign, send it rather than a PDF. The quote reads it directly, and the layout does not have to be rebuilt.
Files the quote cannot open
Some files cannot be read automatically: InDesign INDD, Illustrator, Photoshop and Figma files, older Office formats and password-protected PDFs. Type in the number of pages and words, or the minutes for video and audio, and the price appears straight away. Pages typed in for a design file are priced as complex pages. The full list is on our tools and formats page.
Delivery times
The quote shows a delivery estimate in working days for the speed you choose, worked out like this.
Several target languages are worked on at the same time, so adding a language does not add days.
- Standard translation
- The number of words divided by 2,500, rounded up, plus 1 working day, with a minimum of 2 working days. For example, 6,000 words take 4 working days.
- Standard layout
- 2 working days up to 5 pages, 3 up to 15 pages, 5 up to 30 pages and 7 above that. Layout starts when the translation is finished, so their days add up.
- Fast
- About half the standard time.
- Express
- Within 12 hours, for translation only, up to 2,000 words.
- Subtitles
- 1 working day for every 10 minutes of running time, with a minimum of 2 working days.
- Voiceover
- 1 working day for every 10 minutes, with a minimum of 3 working days.

- Outside the scope of UK VAT, so no VAT is added.
